Welcome to the no Wine Left Behind podcast, where we uncork the perfect blend of wine and wines from our everyday lives.
Speaker 2:I'm Alex and I'm Celia. We are here together in the wine cellar sipping on different blends of wine, while sharing the ups and downs, frustrations and funny moments of our daily adventures.
Speaker 1:So grab a glass of vino, join us as we raise our voices and our glasses Together, we'll dive into the drama of life as we see it. Boom, what's up? Here we go again. No wrong song, never mind, I mean right song, but like wrong, wrong reason to sing it.
Speaker 2:Never mind, welcome back. Hey, how's it's it going? Literally? It's not going that well.
Speaker 1:random songs one day, I'm gonna get it right. If someone wants to write us a theme song like uh, I don't know, whatever has a theme song. Every show has a theme song, but no theme song is coming to mind right now. If someone wants to write us a theme song, please do.
Speaker 2:I'll say you know what theme song is coming to mind right now. If someone wants to write us a theme song, please do. I'll say you know what theme song is coming to my mind? What? Laverne and charlie's theme song I don't even know that shamel shemizel has and peppa cooperated. We're gonna do it on your okay.
Speaker 1:Okay, I know that part, I didn't know how. That's how it started.
Speaker 2:We're gonna make our dreams come true, doing it our way.
Speaker 1:I'm going to ask TJ Beats to remix it.
Speaker 2:Yes, yeah, you can do Shamil, shamizel.
Speaker 1:Okay, no, we'll pick different words. We're not. I'm not saying fucking Shamil, what does that even mean? Shamizel? Is that like gibberish, or is that like?
Speaker 2:real, I don't know, maybe they were jewish. Shemizel sounds jewish, it definitely does. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, but so that was their theme song and it was very popular, so maybe he can like revamp something from like back in the day for us. Yeah, that would be so cool without us getting sued oh, right, yeah we're not paying license. Yeah, we'll figure it out how to make it so that, yeah, we're not stealing anybody's, yeah, but they're both dead now, I think, and the show doesn't even like air ever so, I think we're safe?
Speaker 1:I don't know it might be safe. I don't, I mean. I mean they can sue me, that's fine, I don't have anything.
Speaker 2:So whatever, I don't really care, honestly sued for.
Speaker 1:So we're good, just another. It'll give me something else to talk about on the podcast there you go, another topic oh my gosh I love it hey how are the?
Speaker 2:olympics going oh my god, that's what I was gonna get into that's funny going fantastic. Do you know that us um overall standing like overall top team with gold medals?
Speaker 1:I feel, isn't that like a normal? I feel like we, we normally dominate the olympics, but maybe that's just like my american ego of like we're the best.
Speaker 2:As of monday I think it was monday morning or tuesday morning I was listening to the radio on my way to work as of monday or tuesday morning, we already had 12 that's crazy and it just started on Friday.
Speaker 1:I was gonna say out of how many days, and then you said Friday, and then I had to remember what today was and yeah, that makes sense. I mean, I've seen a lot for sure about, um, the girls gymnast gymnastics.
Speaker 1:I don't know how you yeah they got, um, yes, and like all the tea which I'm like here for I think it's so funny um, so, that was really cool. And something else that has come up on my tiktok and I meant to look and find, like, what the exact name of the event is and I'm not really sure, but it's horses with riders and the horses like like scallop for the beat. Equestrian equestrian, yeah, yeah, but it's not like your normal, like jumping over hurdle. Equestrian event right, the horses are like dancing.
Speaker 2:It's all over tiktok and I'm obsessed oh yeah, do you know that they had to fly those horses to paris?
Speaker 1:I didn't think about that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, wait, but like you can't bring them by boat, by ship, no, so it's like a whole thing, like they have like a whole what Like pre-prep to get them ready for the flight. They have a special plane, like it's like a cargo plane and the horses go into like their stalls they have like traveling stalls that they go into and these things slide right into the plane, fitting perfectly Right. And then there's people on the plane to maintain the horses and care for them and feed them and check their well-being while they're in flight.
Speaker 2:Okay, my mind is blown they land in paris and then they have a whole post routine and workout and thing and you know this and that before they even get them going in the competitions, like it's like a whole thing. Like they have to prep them and then they have to do all the after travel stuff, which is like a few days. They get shit to do before. Then, once they get there, there's a few things, a couple of days worth of like getting them settled and ready to compete. So it's like a process. I was actually it's funny that you mentioned that because I was literally watching it yesterday the news person was talking about all about how they get the horses over to Paris and what the process is and how they do it, and they have a whole team of people that fly with the horses and take care of them. That's crazy.
Speaker 1:That's literally insane. One like being the person on that airplane to take care of them is crazy. And then that just makes me think of all the other, like equipment and things that people who are participating, all the stuff that they need. Like where is the olympics mail room? Like who's getting all these fucking packages? Like who is organizing this stuff, keeping track of shit? What does that look like? I I envision like an olympic version of like a police evidence locker. What I didn't even think about.
Speaker 2:That, yeah yeah, crazy, it's a whole thing. And they have to make sure they're in top form before they even think to get them out to practice for the competition like they give them this pre-workout, this post-workout, it's like a whole thing. And these like people are on the plane, checking in on them every you know half an hour. Make sure they're okay, make sure they're settled, like nothing happening to them while they're in flight.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's unbelievable and I didn't know that either. Like I'm watching this whole thing. I've been watching olympics every day and all of a sudden they're like talking about equestrian. I'm like adriana's like what's that? And I'm like, oh, the horses. And she's like, oh my god. And then they went into this whole thing on how they get the horses there and what the process is, and I was like I was my mind was blown. True. I was like, oh my god, they fly the horses to paris. Like like holy shit.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that must be expensive oh yeah, oh yeah, uh.
Speaker 2:After seeing that, I mean I can only imagine how much time money preparation goes into this. Like we went to Paris last July or June, I think I think it was June. They were already like doing stuff the year before we went, so like two years in advance. They were already like when we went there there was a lot of painting going on, there was a lot of construction, like. And now I'm watching it on TV and I'm like, oh my God, I remember seeing them do that. Oh my God, I remember seeing them build that, painting buildings, like I couldn't believe what was just just preparing Paris, and then imagine the Olympics itself.
Speaker 2:All the preparation and effort and time that goes into organizing that. You know it's just nuts.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that could have been us. This was our bid for the Olympics. To be in Boston was 2024.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and we lost to Paris, yeah, so that could have been us. I know, and then they say it's going to be in California. Um, is it California? I don't know.
Speaker 1:In four years that's what I yeah.
Speaker 2:I had no idea we're not, so yeah, but it's. It's incredible. I always love the Olympics. I like the summer Olympics, I like the winter Olympics, like I just it.
Speaker 1:Learn something new about you every day.
Speaker 2:I know you're not a huge fan. Gary isn't either. Oh my God, me and Adriana were watching gymnastics last night and he was just sitting on the couch like oh my God, someone kill me now, like he was. Like he sat there and he was looking at me like oh my God, when is this going to be over? And of course, you know Adriana wants to watch it. I want to watch it with her.
Speaker 2:So we're sitting there watching it and then finally, she was like okay, I'm gonna go to bed now because her laundry was done and I'm like hey, good night, grab the remote. And it's like okay, what else is on? I'm like wait. He's like nope. Oh, my god, I mean so funny watching them do those bars. Yeah, I don't fucking know. Whatever. I know what you mean, but I don't I'm like wait, he's like nope, oh my God, but I love it.
Speaker 1:I mean, it's so funny.
Speaker 2:Watching them do those bars? Yeah, I don't fucking know Whatever.
Speaker 1:I know what you mean, but I don't know what they're called. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, just like the balance beam Like Crazy God.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it gives me anxiety.
Speaker 2:It was fun. What else? Oh, we watched some swimming, we watched some water polo basketball haven't seen equestrian yet, oh they have badminton. They have um weird, yeah, um, I think it's handball I saw people shooting guns yep some sort of like rifle competition.
Speaker 2:That was crazy yeah, they have obviously rugby, lacrosse, I don't know. There's just so many events, there's so so many. But what else you're watching over? You don't see I'm going on. So I was reading an article last week, right after we talked last week, um, about the. Remember the um, we're talking about the cocaine sharks. Yeah, like the very next day there was an article online about so a movie. There's a movie that's coming out called cocaine shark. I'm like so the the it's. It's just totally coincidental. So he's.
Speaker 2:He did the movie because like cocaine bear, so he's like this guy's like I'm gonna do a movie cocaine shark sure so movie I don't think is out yet. I don't even know if it's in complete. It's completed yet, or whatever but, the producer is so excited because he's like this is the best movie promo ever, like he was so happy that like I mean, obviously he's not happy that that's happening there, but he was happy because it kind of just blew up his it's like like now he can promote his movie, of course, yeah so he's, he's stoked, he's like for me, he's like this is it.
Speaker 2:He's like it's so bizarre that this is happening in Brazil, literally right around the same time. He plans on releasing this movie called Cocaine Shark. Okay, free press baby, yes, exactly, and in the article he was saying he has no idea what it does to the nervous system, despite making the movie. But he, he, his guess is it would make them more aggressive, which is what the article said. That I um read um, but um, yeah, he's, he's excited, he's excited. This, this article is gonna help his movie.
Speaker 1:I I probably won't watch the movie oh no, there's no way I'm watching that I'm I'm good with.
Speaker 2:I watched cocaine bear and I swore I wasn't going to watch it, but then we watched it and after we watched it I'm like this is so stupid.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I still haven't seen that one. It it was really stupid. I don't know Not my jam.
Speaker 2:It was just stupid Anywho, yeah. So how about the Folk Festival last weekend?
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh, it was so good. This was one of the better years. This was a good one.
Speaker 2:I'm going to say it was the best, but I haven't been in a couple of years but, it was the best since the last time I went.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:It gave me Mardi Gras vibes. Yeah, like I felt like it was like a really condensed version of Mardi Gras. Yes, it was amazing. I've spoken to a few people since then and the people that I've spoken to are people who attend every year faithfully. They all said it was the best folk festival they've had since the beginning, that this was the best one hands down unbelievable.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm so excited when, yeah, yeah, I'm so excited that it's back to like how I remember it being growing up, like really exciting and something to look forward to. Um, yeah, and it's only once a year, and it's like, oh, I'm already ready for next year, like, what are what are they going?
Speaker 2:to do. It was great, it was really great. I mean, did you see them? Did you happen to catch a glimpse of the marching band? Yeah, wasn't that amazing? They had tubas and trumpets and that's, and they were like singing and dancing in the streets and I'm like and again, everybody with the beads and like the music everywhere. It was like Mardi Gras, I'm like yeah, like waiting for people to throw beads at us as we're walking by like rooftops and balconies and shit, like it was so awesome, it was just awesome.
Speaker 2:Yeah, really nice time. They really really enjoyed it. Yeah, I'll definitely do it again next year. I hope this and add to it Like I hope they do it just like this, and then like add another layer?
Speaker 1:yeah, I definitely think they could. There's definitely room in the streets for more vendors, for more activities, so oh, it's just so nice. Yeah, it was great.
Speaker 2:I really enjoyed it. So, yeah, we'll keep that on my list of things to do. Moving forward For sure, for sure. So I was reading this article, guess where. And are you going to guess where I was reading this article?
Speaker 1:I'll give you one guess. Time magazine.
Speaker 2:Oh, my God, You're so silly. I don't read Time magazine. That's too smart for me. So I was reading an article on People Magazine which I thought was really funny. I thought it was hysterical. And I would literally think this would be cool if someone did it at my wedding. If I were to get married again, which I'm probably not, but a bride and groom.
Speaker 2:They get mad after guests order pizza and wings to the reception when the food ran out. Why would you be mad at that? I would be like get me some dry rub wings, because that's what I'm like. I don't need sauce, I don't need nothing, I just need my dry rub wings and I'm happy as a clam, oh my god I would love wings and pizza, like everybody loves wings and pizza.
Speaker 2:Like these people must be really stuffy and uptight to go. I mean, come on, yeah, that's so weird. Like you didn't feed your guests enough, you didn't give them enough food, right, how does that happen? Yeah, like if you did a buffet style, you should have had them keep bringing that food out until everyone was full and stuck. Right, if you did it per plate, bad on you, because people got appetites they want to eat. When people drink, they want to eat.
Speaker 1:Oh, my God.
Speaker 2:I know I do. That's why I'm like a freaking cow. So yeah, like, don't get mad. If you didn't like feed your people and make them happy, then you know what I mean. I'd be like more power to you. Make sure you get me an order of wings. That's what I would have been saying.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't understand being mad at that. Maybe they were embarrassed and then, for their error, like embarrassed and maybe they should have been. But don't take that out on the people Like they're just doing what they need to do.
Speaker 2:Right and apparently they left the wedding fuming.
Speaker 1:Fuming, so drama.
Speaker 2:And one of the hungry guests. He recounted an incident. I'm sorry. There was a post on Reddit. Is that what it's called? Yes, yeah. And he was like am I an asshole? Like, am I an asshole for doing that fucking?
Speaker 2:no, you're not no good for you, good on you. I wouldn't know the the group like decided to dial up. It was a group thing, like it wasn't just one person was like, oh, I think I'm gonna order food for myself. Right, it was a, it was a lot of people, so it was buffet style, and you know what those buffets are tricky, because I remember doing a buffet for adriana's um party her sweet 16 and they weren't refilling it like like they probably refilled it twice. I would expect a buffet to just keep being refilled until fucking people are done.
Speaker 2:You know, what I mean. So they can be tricky. Like I know, moving forward, if I ever do a party and I'm going to do buffet, I need to make. Like, how much food am I actually getting? Like, right, am I getting an hour's worth of food? Am I getting food until every nobody's? You don't see nobody touching it anymore. Like right, are you filling it once? You're like, what's the deal with the buffet? Because, um, they can be tricky. You know, you hear the word buffet and you think it's all you can eat all day, all night.
Speaker 2:Fucking buffet, right right at events buffet, isn't that? It's buffet style, right, but they're only replenishing the trays maybe two times, maybe three times, I don't know yeah so obviously they didn't, you know, fill them. They, these people you know, were hungry and and they wanted food. Who cares? Crazy yeah, I guess that that article in reddit um received Reddit received more than 3,000 comments. Imagine.
Speaker 1:Everybody has a fucking opinion.
Speaker 2:Yep, yep. And right here it says for a wedding buffet, always in capital letters order more than what's needed. Yeah, yep, yep. So if you say 100 people, order for 150 people, right, because that's where the extra food's going to come in, obviously right A if somebody wants to order pizza and wings, as long as they ordered some for me. Yeah, that's what.
Speaker 1:I was thinking right, like, did you bring enough for the class? Because then no, you're not an asshole. If you got enough for everybody to have some, then you're fine, or at least those that wanted to have some, then you're fine. But that would suck. That would suck and your wedding would suck, because people then would be hangry and they would end up leaving and going to like fucking denny's or something right like who cares? I know, I know and you know what they decided um, why would?
Speaker 2:why should we eat here, leave and then go sit somewhere and eat again? We're here, might as well just have the food come, and we can just sit here and eat and continue the party? I don't know, I thought that was smart.
Speaker 1:So crazy. Where was the wedding? Did it list a state? Let's see, I'm going to guess east coast, or like south, definitely not midwest, definitely not west coast, no, it doesn't say.
Speaker 2:The whole article is about what happened yeah, it even says that somewhere in here says something about people eating scraps people eating.
Speaker 1:So that is embarrassing. Like if I caught wind of that I 100 would be like order some fucking pizza. Someone go to mcdonald's, someone get a food truck. I would be frantically trying to find more food for people totally totally.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I would not let my people going up to the um buffet and getting scraps, like literally crumbs out of the freaking trays, like that's embarrassing like like these people should be embarrassed that they didn't have enough food at their wedding to feed their guests. They should be embarrassed and they're they're complaining because it was like one of the most expensive things they've ever had to do. It's expensive, so. So that tells me that they skimped out. Yeah, so expensive, right, they were like let's just which is crazy.
Speaker 1:You know you don't skimp out on food. I'm sure there was decorations or some other bullshit that nobody cared about, that you could have reduced the cost somehow.
Speaker 2:Yep, and the food is the most important, and I that I agree. The food is always the most important. It's what people remember, right? Yeah, when, during Adriana's party, all people talk about till this day and her party was seven months ago is the big tattic. Yeah, all people talk about till this day, and her party was seven months ago is the big tattic. Yeah, big tattic apparently was the best big tattic ever had in their life. Shout out to grazie at four oaks. You guys have a good, apparently, because all my guests loved it.
Speaker 1:So I mean, I get it, but also like come on it's not that serious and I guess too.
Speaker 1:That's kind of why I'm curious as to where it was, because, like, was it like a luxury wedding? Was it like a beach wedding? Because I think that matters too. Like if you're having a fucking hoedown, like who cares if people are ordering pizzas? But like if we're talking about like manhattan rooftop penthouse wedding, then yeah, maybe have a little bit of decorum and don't do that another comment was like buffet style doesn't mean all you can eat, no, it kind of does, because buffet style it means like they're putting more than your plate, but buffet.
Speaker 2:The word buffet is typically connected with all you can eat, so when people hear buffet, they're not thinking, oh, they're doing buffet style. They're thinking we're gonna buffet like we're gonna be able to fucking eat 100 I don't know, otherwise people would have had a plate.
Speaker 1:It would have been a plated dinner for one plate.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and, and you know what most people do not do buffet style for their wedding. They typically do per plate. Yeah, people decided to be cheap about that too so weird yeah well, if anybody out there finds it and they're listening if they figure out where this was, please let us know, because I literally looked at three articles right now, like scrolling quickly through, but I don't see any town, city, state. I see nothing drama, drama, drama, drama so yeah, but anyhow, what else is going on we?
Speaker 2:know, you're not watching the olympics so not watching the olympics?
Speaker 1:um, you know what I am doing. What are you doing?
Speaker 2:I'm going to college for free oh my god, are you literally really going to do your, your?
Speaker 1:I already. I got accepted. I got my acceptance letter today because I can go to community college for free now because I'm a resident of Massachusetts. So the other day I filled out my application. What?
Speaker 2:Aren't you leaving Massachusetts? Isn't your state kicking you?
Speaker 1:out, yes, but not for a whole year. So I might as well milk this bitch for all I can because, nothing else around here is for free and everything's going up, so bet your ass, I'm going to get some certifications and some degrees and whatever else I can while I'm still here.
Speaker 2:So I have my project management certification and it's good to have on your resume. Yeah, that's what I want.
Speaker 2:I have like, so I have my construction supervisor license, but my project management certification is like general, so I can project manage in any industry. It's not just because I could have done just construction to go along with my construction supervisor license. I felt like I wanted it to be more general so it could apply to any industry, and that's what I did. So it took a little longer because, like there's like you, like I said, you can get it for one one um concentration, like one industry, or you can get it as a whole. So that's probably, I'm assuming, what you're gonna do. You're gonna get like the general one where you can project, yeah for sure, industry that's. Yeah, I would do that. I wouldn't, I wouldn't like, just do like project management and construction or you know whatever like yeah you want to be able to utilize it no matter what industry you're in yep.
Speaker 1:So that's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna get my certificate all free.
Speaker 2:Good for you no, it's so boring, oh my god I did it a year ago and I was like, oh, but I did it online, I, I was able. That's the one thing I loved about doing it I was able to do it from my home online.
Speaker 1:I had to get on.
Speaker 2:It was like live. It wasn't like at your own pace, I had to join and get on classes and talk to a live instructor and do assignments and all that stuff. But it was good, I didn't have to go anywhere.
Speaker 1:That's what I loved, so this option is good too, because you can do either two days in person and get your certificate straight away, or you can do I want to say it was like four nights of Zoom calls, okay. So either. Or yeah, nights of Zoom calls, okay. So either, or yeah, I like options.
Speaker 2:Cool, yeah, I like it, I like it. Wow, we have a whole gaggle going, I know.
Speaker 1:But I understand, there's a few more that are registered and ready to go. One big graduation party next year.
Speaker 2:Well, or the year after, depending on what concentration? Yeah, true, true on so yeah so true, yeah, so at least one next year and then maybe the one year after. So well, definitely two next year, because lies graduating, so we'll have to incorporate two graduations in one. Yeah everyone will be so funny the following year we'll be incorporating maybe three in one crazy or four in one, depending on if everybody completes their program. So that'll be exciting.
Speaker 1:Okay, this is so funny yeah, so I love it finally massachusetts doing something right whatever, I think it's great.
Speaker 2:I really do. You know they they had rolled this out um early this spring, um, and I remember telling a few of the family members, the youngers, about it, um, and I thought it would be a good idea for them to do it while they could, while it was being offered. There were some um criterias, like you had to be over 25. You couldn't you um, like you couldn't have a degree, like you couldn't have already had a degree or something from there. I don't remember. But there was like a list of criterias and just last week or just this week early, like the other day, yeah, just the other day right.
Speaker 2:Our governor signed a new bill where she took out all the criterias and it's open to anyone and everyone, no matter what your age, your race.
Speaker 2:Your like college history, like everyone and anyone yeah and I'm like okay, but I mean like I wonder if, like, okay, they have this. I think I guess the incentive is you're getting to go for free, right, like okay, they have this. I think I guess the incentive is you're getting to go for free, right, like what, they're gonna sign up and go, but like what's the incentive to continue? You know what I mean?
Speaker 1:like to keep going I don't think the incentive is to get them to keep going. I think the incentive is to get them into the workforce. Okay, yeah have these little fuckers get jobs and then contribute to society in a proper way and not, yeah, be on these streets can't let these streets get you.
Speaker 2:We saw firsthand what the streets does.
Speaker 1:Oh my god, so bad well on that note I know right. We should probably spruce up our transcripts so that we can not be in these streets. Thank you for joining us on this wine and wine filled adventure. Remember that there should be no wine left behind in your glasses.
